January 2012 Ride Of The Month
Ladies...

I know its been awhile but ROTM is back!

I want to take a minute and tell you guys how awesome it is to have 2000+ users on here to share your custom ideas, and updates on your Accord. Its a pretty cool thing to get help or get different ideas from people across the states to help with your project.

With that being said, I like to show my appreciation for this person for his COMPLETE efforts on making his whip extremely worthy from a complete re-build to this excellent machine you see here. SAMJR

Make sure to congratulate SAMJR and visit his ride thread:

Bad News from Japan...
image

The quake that rocked Japan on March 11 left substantial mark on the automotive industry. Many Japanese automakers have faced parts shortages and productions delays, and sales have also been affected. However, reports suggest that Honda will be rebound by August, which is earlier than expected.

Honda’s Japanese manufacturing plants in Sayama and Suzuka were damaged by the floods on March 11, and a number of its major supply chains were also impaired. Despite setbacks, Honda spokesman Keitaro Yamamoto said that recovery is coming along at a quick pace.

“Suppliers are making progress in restoring operations beyond our expectations. So we now see an earlier-than-expected recovery for our production as well.”

Honda production in Japan decreased 81 percent in March compared with the same time last year due to the earthquake. Honda production around the world also dropped 44 percent during the period. Although Honda had to relocate many of its workers in the wake of the earthquake, Honda hopes to have them back at factories by the end of the month.

Top 10 Most stolen cars in the USA (2009)
image

Do you own a car that's likely to be stolen? Maybe, maybe not. Here is the list that the NICB (National Insurance Crime Bureau) has compiled concerning the most stolen vehicles in America. Honda's 1994 Accord and 1995 Civic along with Toyota's 1991 Camry occupy the first three places ahead of Ford's 1997 F-150 pickup truck and Dodge's 2004 Ram pickup.

If your car is on the list (scroll down), you should make sure to keep that chunk of metal locked down. As in, put a ring on it and don't let anyone near it.

Most Stolen Vehicles in the US in 2009:

1. 1994 Honda Accord
2. 1995 Honda Civic
3. 1991 Toyota Camry
4. 1997 Ford F-150 Pickup
5. 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup
6. 2000 Dodge Caravan
7. 1994 Chevrolet Pickup (Full Size)
8. 1994 Acura Integra
9. 2002 Ford Explorer
10. 2009 Toyota Corolla

The FBI says car thefts were down 17% in 2009 compared to 2008 (794,616 versus 956,846), which is officially the "largest drop in a six-year decline" and the lowest reported in 21 years. Good news for car owners, and clearly indicative of the fact that car thieves are falling by the wayside (or just not up to snuff on their tech).

Most of the cars listed end to end up in chop shops where the sum of their parts is more valuable than the actual car. More serious thieves (those in syndicates with ties to shipping and international trade) still feel fine stealing newer cars that can be re-VIN'd and distributed overseas, so your Escalade and XJR aren't necessarily safe just yet.

You'll notice the majority of the cars on the list are from the 1990's. It turns out these older cars have become more popular, but many people have yet to figure out why. I'd say it probably comes down to the simple fact that they're easier to steal. Many modern cars have keys that only work with one specific car, while other cars simply can't be started without a chip (found in the key fob) nearby.

Joe Wehrle, NICB president and CEO, says, "Through the end of August this year there were 97,655 vehicles that were listed as stolen and not yet recovered. Of that number, only 38 percent had some kind of insurance coverage. So there are a lot of vehicles out there that are being stolen and the owner is left holding the bag with no car and no money to buy another one." Lesson? If you own a vehicle that's likely to get stolen, insure it accordingly and be safe about it.

Here are some of the NICB's tips on how to make sure your car doesn't get got by some shady individuals:

"Common Sense: Lock your car and take your keys. It's simple enough but many thefts occur because owners make it easy for thieves to steal their cars.

Warning Device: Having and using a visible or audible warning device is another item that can ensure that your car remains where you left it.

Immobilizing Device: Generally speaking, if your vehicle can't be started, it can't be stolen. "Kill" switches, fuel cut-offs and smart keys are among the devices which are extremely effective.

Tracking Device: A tracking device emits a signal to the police or to a monitoring station when the vehicle is stolen. Tracking devices are very effective in helping authorities recover stolen vehicles. Some systems employ "telematics" which combine GPS and wireless technologies to allow remote monitoring of a vehicle. If the vehicle is moved the system will alert the owner and the vehicle can be tracked via computer."

What has inspired you to put as much effort as you have into your car?
I traded my 240sx for this car to get out of the tuner scene. But, after seeing modified CB7s on various websites, I caught the "bug".

About how much have you spent on your car?
Not enough. I wish i could spoil it a little more.

What type of occupation do you have?
Cricket Wireless.

Honestly, what do you think of JDM, EDM, and USDM?
Just another fad that will fade in time. I could care less what a car looks like, as long as it all flows together nicely.

Would you represent a MYCB7.COM sticker on your car?
Definitely!

How long have you had your CB7?
Since December 2007.

Have you had any major issues with it in general or when doing modifications?
Worst issue I've had was dealing with rusty bolts when doing my suspension.

How do you feel about being MYCB7.COM Ride of the Month?
I feel great about it. Makes me proud to be a member here and to drive an old grandma car.

What has inspired you to put as much effort as you have into your car?
I love to mod cars!! I always put time and love into my car even if its a beater. lol Car forums like this one REALLY helped me to get ideas from, so THANK YOU everyone!!

About how much have you spent on your car?
I know I'm well over 3k! I have put almost nothing into the motor except regular maintenance. I see no need to since I have a motor 5 speed swap in the future. Oh and that 3k is in parts not labor!! I do my own work!!

What type of occupation do you have?
well unemployed right now lol! I''m in and out of Warehouse/Distribution jobs. Thanks Economy!! lol

Honestly, what do you think of JDM, EDM, and USDM?
I don't think much of any of them to be honest. I do my own thing and I think everyone else should to. A nice JDM, EDM ride is also very nice too!!

Would you represent a MYCB7.COM sticker on your car?
Hell yeah I would!!! I always give respect and shout outs to who have help me get my car to where it is today. Mycb7.com has definitely helped me get there.

How long have you had your CB7?
2 years and counting!!

Have you had any major issues with it in general or when doing modifications?

How do you feel about being MYCB7.COM Ride of the Month?

January 2009 CB7 ride of the Month.
Hey guys... Before you read this, please note that I asked Damien to give me recent photos...and he did! So look past the wreckage and look on what he is trying to finish. Thanks!

Before i start i just want to say thanks, and the car is not yet complete, so i fully understand if you want to wait or choose someone else....

What has inspired you to put as much effort as you have into your car?

i would have to say a good friend of mine, west side accord, watching and helping him with his cb7 really inspired me to do stuff with mine. he was actually the person who convinced me to buy mine in the first place.

image

About how much have you spent on your car?

don't know exactly, probably around $4000.00 without purchase price.

What type of occupation do you have?

sign writer. we make signs for business' i program and run a 3 axis cnc router, and take care of all the painting.

image

Honestly, what do you think of JDM, EDM, and USDM?

i think the jdm thing is really overrated. if people wear really serious about it there would be a lot more right hand drive accords around. I'm trying to do as much usdm things to mine as i can. but i wouldn't mind getting a set of edm side moldings.

image

Would you represent a MYCB7.COM sticker on your car?

hell's yeah...

How long have you had your CB7?

4 years this past December.
image

Have you had any major issues with it in general or when doing modifications?

i have had 2 issues both on modification. when i did the rear disk swap i got the parts from a right off car, and it turned out the one side was really bent. took 2 months to find another.
when i built and installed me h22, first the crank seal cracked, after that i put the balancer shaft belt on to tight and seized the oil pump, and after that about 3 weeks of driving i blew an oiling ring.

How do you feel about being MYCB7.COM Ride of the Month?

gave me a pretty big boost, i defiantly don't want to let anyone down now. I've gotta make sure that i keep going above what everyone is expecting.

Honda Insight to make world debut
The all-new 2009 Honda Insight hybrid will make its world debut in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The five-passenger, five-door Insight will go on sale in the spring of 2009.

The Insight is expected to have annual global sales of 200,000 units per year - approximately 100,000 in North America - and will utilize a new interactive, driver-focused fuel economy enhancement technology named the Ecological Drive Assist System (Eco Assist™).

A leader in the development of cleaner, more fuel-efficient mobility products, Honda introduced to market the first mass produced low-emission gasoline vehicles; America's first commercially produced gas-electric hybrid car and the world's first EPA-certified hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, the FCX. In 2007, Honda was named "greenest automaker" by the Union of Concerned Scientists for the fourth straight time.
